Andrey, aged 38, is from Moscow, married, and the father of two children. He approached us in September 2023 with a request to obtain European citizenship for the whole family. He headed a successful IT company in Moscow, but the difficult political situation and economic instability compelled him to look for alternative ways to secure the future of his children.
During the initial consultation, we established that Andrey had grounds for obtaining EU citizenship under an accelerated program. Although the entrepreneur’s target European country was Spain, we proposed another option for relocation to Europe. After consideration, Andrey agreed, since he and his family members could obtain a Spanish passport only by naturalization, which as a rule takes no less than 10 years.
In turn, the Romanian immigration program proposed by our specialists made it possible for the client to obtain EU citizen status in less than one and a half years. At the same time, he retained Russian citizenship and was not required to reside in Romania on a permanent basis. Moreover, Andrey and his family, with Romanian passports, could choose any European jurisdiction in which to reside, including Spain.
After 3 months of painstaking work, we succeeded in locating metric records in one of the archives of Chișinău. The documents confirmed the Romanian origin of Andrey’s great-grandmother. In parallel, we obtained certificates from Russian archives confirming the kinship link through the generations.
The procedure did not take much time thanks to the professional preparation of the documents and our connections within the consular services. A particularly difficult aspect was the translation of documents from the beginning of the twentieth century — many records were made in Church Slavonic script.
In December 2024, the entire family already had Romanian passports in hand — first Andrey and the children obtained them, and then, under an accelerated procedure, his wife did as well. They are now planning a move to Barcelona, where Andrey has already selected office premises for the European branch of his company. The children have enrolled in an international school, and his wife, Veronika, has started Spanish language courses. Andrey notes that the most valuable aspect of our cooperation for him was the comprehensive support at all stages and the resolution of all bureaucratic matters without his personal involvement.
